Farmer, Severian Jere

Severian Jere demonstrates to many other Zambians that hardworking can make one escape poverty. He is a diligent and visionary entrepreneur, working in general farming and gardening. Now he wants to expand into fish farming. This will requires a reliable water source. At this moment he has a treadle pump but it can’t pump water deeper than 6 meters and can’t be used in the dry season. He is very happy that Jacana wants to provide him with a borehole and rope pump. For this reason, Jacana asks a small financial contribution from you to help provide a borehole and pump to Severian.

Mr. Severian is an industrious entrepreneur who is actively farming and gardening. He grows maize, beans, rape, cabbages and butternuts. Mr. Severian wants to expand into fish farming, he believes that there is good market for fish and that it is seldom farmed. This is a good expansion idea and its success is inevitable. This motivated Mr. Severian to attend the Jacana business, finance and marketing training for two days. This training enabled him to enhance his business skills and realize the potentiality of his vision.

With the prevalent water challenges in the country, his success as an entrepreneur is limited. His water spots dry up during the dry season and the treadle pump can’t help him, meaning that he can only farm few months within a year. Fish farming requires reliable water sources, as we all know that the life of fish depends on water. To show his commitment, Severian has already paid 70 Euros towards his borehole and is willing to host the drilling team and provide necessities required for them to drill and install a complete borehole at his premise.

Jacana believes Mr. Severian has the potential to become a great entrepreneur. For this reason, Jacana has selected him for a partly sponsored borehole with pump. This pump would ensure continued water supply whole-year round. In order for Jacana to provide this complete borehole with pump, we need your financial help. You can support Severian with any amount for him to have a pump installed at his premise. This will enable him to become a successful entrepreneur in his business and provide employment to fellow community members. Every small amount is more than welcome.
